Butahage Singapore: Famous Hokkaido Serving Signature Butadon

At the helm of Butahage is third-generation Chef Hitoshi Yano, with his son overseeing the operations of the Singapore outpost. Famed for its rendition of Butadon, a beloved Japanese rice dish originating from Hokkaido, Butahage's version stands out with the use of an 80-year-old tare sauce. This secret glaze undergoes a slow-cooking process in an old-fashioned cauldron, resulting in a symphony of flavors—sweet, smoky, savory, and umami.

The Obihiro Meibutsu Japanese Pork Loin Don is a star on the menu, featuring exceptionally tender Hokkaido Shirakaba Pork Loin. Cloaked in the secret recipe sauce and grilled using the amiyaki technique, it boasts an aromatic char, served atop a fluffy bed of Hokkaido Nanatsuboshi rice. Each bite is a delight of tenderness, packed with flavor, with the rice serving as the perfect canvas for the luscious sauce and pork juices.

For sweet potato enthusiasts, the Agedashi Imo Tempura is a delightful side dish. Its crisp exterior perfectly complements the sweet, creamy interior, served with a soy-based sauce that adds a touch of tanginess.

The Hokkaido Special & Noodle Set elevates the tempura experience with premium ingredients like Black Tiger Prawns, Scallops, Salmon, Squid, Asparagus, Japanese Mountain Yam, and Shiitake Mushroom. Drizzled with sweet-and-savory tempura sauce, it's served with Udon or Soda, hot or cold. The tempura is light and crisp, allowing the natural flavors of the ingredients to shine. Paired with Hot Udon, the springy and chewy noodles absorb the flavorful broth, creating a delightful harmony.

Another standout is the Salmon Mentai Avocado Don, showcasing slices of salmon sashimi draped in a slightly charred creamy mentaiko sauce. The addition of creamy avocado balances the richness, making each bite a satisfying blend of textures and flavors.

No visit is complete without indulging in the Hokkaido Strawberry Milk Cheesecake. Sweet, tangy, and with a creamy ice cream-like texture, it's a delightful treat that beckons for more.
